Group Goat Harvesting Experience (Saturday - 3/21)

Experience the full process of goat harvest in a small, woman-led group setting. This educational demonstration allows participants to see every step from humane dispatch to full carcass breakdown.

This workshop is designed for anyone curious about whole-animal stewardship, raising livestock, or simply wanting to understand where their food comes from. No prior experience is necessary.

Observing the harvest and breakdown of an animal can feel emotional or unfamiliar. This workshop is guided with patience and care, moving at a steady, clear pace. Questions and curiosity are encouraged the goal is confidence and understanding, not perfection.

What to Expect:

  • Humane dispatch demonstration

  • Skinning and gutting walkthrough. This workshop will not cover hide tanning.

  • Carcass breakdown into cuts for homestead use

  • Tool selection, knife skills, and safety discussion

  • Understanding anatomy and meat quality

  • Tips for storage, cooking, and preparing meat at home

  • Space for thoughtful questions and observation

  • Light refreshments

This is a demo style workshop. Participants will be observing the process and will not be taking meat home.

Investment:

$100 per person

What to Bring:

  • Closed-toe boots (waterproof recommended)

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty

  • Notebook

  • Water Bottle

***We will begin promptly at 10am. Processing will take approximately 4 hours depending on questions and number of participants. The workshop will take place at Feral Ridge Ranch in Brodnax, Va. Address will be shared upon registration.***

Important Information:

This experience is for adults only (18+) due to the nature of the work. Participants will NOT be permitted to take meat home. Please see private workshop option if that is of interest. A liability waiver will be required prior to participation.

Workshop & Event Cancellation / Credit Policy

We know life happens. Truly. Because our workshops are small, hands-on, and require advance prep, we do our best to keep things fair for everyone.

If You Need to Cancel

  • 5 or more days before the event:
    No problem, you’ll receive a full credit (not a cash refund) for the amount paid, valid for 12 months toward another Feral Ridge Ranch workshop or event.

  • Less than 5 days before the event or no-shows:
    At that point, preparations are already underway, so we’re unable to offer credits or refunds.

Can’t Make It but Don’t Want Your Spot to Go to Waste?

You’re welcome to send someone in your place at no extra cost, just let us know at least 48 hours in advance.

If We Need to Cancel

In the rare event that Feral Ridge Ranch has to cancel or reschedule due to weather, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances, you’ll be offered a full refund or a transfer to a future date.
